Bravo Dave! Although I admit that my experience is less than that of many of the people I have been listening to on this newsletter, I agree with his outlook regarding the initiation of recreational divers into the technical fold. I have been avidly absorbing much of what has been said regarding different threads in the past weeks, firmly beleiving that I'm learning about something that will eventually be put to use in making me a better diver. In the mean time, I think that taking an attitude of mentoring rec. divers who want to dedicate themselves to advancing their abilities into the technical arena, whether deep wrecks, caves, or enriched air mixtures only strengthens diving's commitment to self-regulation. I too have had times I've been thankful someone took the lead and showed me the correct, responsible way of becoming a better diver, rather than letting me get hurt. Any one out there who can say they've learned more about their passion from books, than from other divers, is a rare creature indeed. Enuf said, there's my 2 cents. Dive safe...
