Someone in one of the discussions on BCs suggested there was a need for
rapid inflation (not the economy I hope). Here's a recipe from my new
book, "To Kill a Techdiver."

1) Replace your inflator hose with a ScubaPro AIRII (large bore) hose
with AIRII quick-disconnect.

2) Replace the quick-disconnect fitting on your inflator with a mate
for the AIRII hose. One is available from ScubaPro. But wait, if this
isn't enough there's more:
    - Remove the valve assembly from the plastic inflator body.
    - Drill out the restrictor hole in the bottom of the fitting
       to about .090".
    - Drill out the restrictor hole in the plastic inflator body where
the quick-disconnect fitting screws into (about .090").
    - You can even enlarge the hole a little if you dare in the metal
       valve assembly.
3) Reassemble the inflator and test. Test over pressure relief in water
to ensure it will dump faster than the air (gas) input from the
inflator.

You now have an inflator which will inflate your wings about 4 to 5
times faster than before for those rapid deep descents. You also have
an inflator that will shoot your ass out of the water from your 20ft
stop if it malfunctions! Haven't found too much benefit in typical cave
diving; kind of nice on untethered drops on deep wrecks in strong
currents. 'But you better be ready for Mr. Toad's wild ride to the
surface if you screw up. Risk-reward, cost-benefit. Its your call!
