I've done about 50 dives on it since I got it, only ten with heavy doubles and only 4 below 130 feet, so take what I say as advice from a newbie transpac user. The pack is strong and stable. The shoulder pull straps used to tighten the harness are too short for my tastes. You don't need the double cam bands for double tanks, just use two of the stablizer plates and bolt the tanks right to the backpack (same as a backplate). One thing I don't like is the fill rate at depth. I'm planning to replace the inflator valve and hose with a high volume system. You really need to stay on top of your descent rate and fill it constantly because when you get below 120 or so it takes forever to get any air into it and you can end up falling like a lead shot bag. I don't think the backplate version solves this problem out of the box either. I don't like the integrated weight system in the zeagle, so I never really looked at it seriously, but a couple of my friends dive them and think they're great. If I had it to do all over again, I might have bought a backplate, but at the time I wanted a single BC I could use for anything. Like so many compromises, the transpac does neither recreational or technical diving as well as a two specialized pieces of equipment would, but if your budget is limitted (or your weight allowance is ;), the transpac is a good choice I think. Other's might argue that if either of the above are true, you shouldn't be persuing the sport. Scott.
