With regard to the DiveRite light in question...

I won't hit any personal attacks here, but if you have any knowledge of the
physics of pressure/stress and the associated engineering collary arguments,
a square pressure vessel isn't a "brilliant deduction", else tunnels would be
square, arches would be rectangles, and the golden gate bridge would have no
need for arches. Combine this with the reported implosion of a casing (with
no battery) and it sounds pretty cut and dry. The pressure is focused at the
midpoints of the squared sides rather than evenly distributed as in a circle.

Dive Rite makes some good gear, and I own some of it, but the lights sound
like an exception to the rule. They make some good reels and good hardware,
so I disagree with a "blanket condemnation" of the company. They just need
to revisit their light engineer and smack him over the head with a heavy
blunt object.

You guys seem to universally condemn or else stand up for DiveRite gear.
I think both are equally wrong. They have some good stuff. They have some
bad stuff. Same song and dance applies to other vendors. Let's leave out
the "blanket" condemnations or endorsements and look at specific gear, OK?
