I think you'll find that many of the better instructors (like me, for instance (-: ) are gainfully employed in industries other than scuba. Most of us around here are college graduates working in technical or professional positions. I agree with George. The problem is that you have trailer trash like the Heinerths trying to make a living teaching diving . It is not possible to do that. In my case, I got taught by my father's boat captain, but my PADI instructor had an MBA and works a real job, my cavern instructor was Alton Hall, and my cave instructor was Parker Turner, whose money I managed - he did not need to work. Bill Mee and I were out diving on one of the local boats in Hollywood , Florida, and there was this lady teaching a kid from her neighborhood to dive. Bill and I were amazed at how cool she was about it. Not believing she could possibly be a dive instructor full time and go teaching one kid on a Sunday afternoon and taking that much care, I asked her what she did for a living . She is a 777 pilot for Delta. A tad different than World Record Jill and the IANTD 12 year old cavern diver crowd. A tad different. I hope they all lose their insurance and go back to working at the 7 -11 where they all belong. ----- Original Message ----- From: John Dudas <john_dudas@ya*.co*> To: George Trey Irvine <trey@ne*.co*>; <cavers@cavers.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 03, 2000 1:11 PM Subject: Re: "Junior" Cave Divers? > I've been reading this whole thread with shock.
