Salt and cold.    EE Doesn't recommend using them anymore, we have had two 
guys send theirs back already for replacement cords (which they did, 
excellent service)   It looks like the salt and cold cause a voltage drop, 
and the ballasts are very finicky about that, which causes it to lose the 
arc.

After seeing this happen a couple times I started asking around - It sounds 
like the E/O connectors are even problematic with halogen after a few dives.

We were shooting some video this weekend - It was really problematic to 
have the light constantly cycling.   In fact, there was talk on the way 
home about hard wiring a  lid with two cords for video.  Hope the 
videographer is emotionally attached to their camera as well.  :-)
