Scott, I know Claudia, and I don't think her subject is misdirected. Step back for a second an look at what that stroke Jil Heinrth has set up in cave diving: she has a big spread in Dive Girl magazine talking about "womens' world records" (even though she does not even have a record of any kind). That is where this kind of question arises. Certain sports are gender dependent due to their dependency on hormonal influences, like football, even though the hormones are mostly synthetic, and I guess if you gave a women enough of them she could play football, but diving is not one of those, as you suggest .
