Hi Claudia,

I must have read your posting a bunch of times and it really bothers me. In
fact it makes me a little angry although for the life of me I can't think of
one single logical reason why it should. I think it has to do with how I am
interpreting your question.

On the one hand if it is just a troll to get this list talking about womens'
equality then I feel like sending you a flaming return telling you in no
uncertain terms, to grow up and knock it off. However if you really worry
about the question, then I must lose respect for you as a cave diver.

Who the hell cares whether members of a cave diving team have their
reproductive organs on the outside or the inside. What a stupid question to
ask. What are their strengths?, their training?, their experience?, their
leadership qualities?, their psychological stability under stress? These are
the only things that are important.
To worry about the gender of a cave diver tells me a lot more about the
insecurity of the worrier than the capabilities of the diver.

This past winter I trained three female cave divers (and I had to do a lot of
thinking to separate them in my memory from my other stusents.) Two went all
of the way through and earned their Full Cave certification and the other
went through Intro. And I was damn proud of each of them, just as I am of
each of my other students. I don't train male or female cave divers, I train
cave divers.

Let's just knock this crap off and get back to talking about diving. I think
that this subject has no place in the technical diving community in general
let alone on this list.

Take care and safe diving, Scott
