Subject: Re: Back Gas Regulators
Many of the regs out there use DIN screw ins that are too thin. Poseiden
is an example of this. You hit them a couple of times and they become
weak - they are only machinable brass.

The best type of DIN can be seen on the US Divers old SE2 type regs -
this is a very think tube that is part of the body of the reg, and the
yoke is fitted OVER that, not screwed in in place of that. Mares,
Sherwood and others have regs that fit this description as well. I use
the US Divers on my rebreather outboard tanks since they are exposed to
the cave walls and ceilings. You can drop your doubles upside down on
cement with USD SE-2 DIN regs and only bned them, not snp them.

For my Posieden back set I use stainless steel custom DIN tubes, custom
seats, custom pistons and differeent o-rings, but would not recommend
anyone buy anything form Poseiden until they address the seat problems.

For Scuba Pro, I have not bothered to have any DIN tubes made sicne the
regs are swivels and I do not care for swivels on my back, no matter how
good they may be.

Of course, the real answer is "Don't hit anything". I take the
precautions since I get into many zero vis situations.
