I'd prefer well arrowed T's any day. The only good thing I can say about gaps is that they help keep beginner divers out of areas they shouldn't be in and on the main line. Tees make it easier to route find. Imagine driving through a neighborhood where you could only see 50 ft and the roads lacked 75 ft of intersecting. I agree with the view that the intro certification is a bad idea, but I also take it a step farther and say that I think no one should be paid to teach cave diving. Cave diving should be a mentor-based learning system, instead of one driven by profit. Sure, there would be less cave divers...sounds like a good thing for us and the caves. To be good (which means you get to stay alive longer), you can't be a one week wonder who flys down for a dive or two every six months. You have to live and breath the underground underwater world to be really safe. Unfortunately, it seems many of the recent accidents in caves have been divers who only cave dive every once in a while. About this last LR accident...Has it occurred to anyone where these guys rented the doubles and scooters? I seem to doubt that they took all their gear on the plane, and I had seen where they did fly down here? I'm not saying that the renter is at fault( it's a personal responsibility issue), just maybe it is a problem to be addressed. Or maybe I'm just pissed I can't dive this weekend.
