After I had my first few incidents getting batteries onto planes, I was informed that gel-cell batteries are not considered hazardous. Since sticking a professional looking sticker with the words "GEL CELL BATTERY PACK" onto the side of the my lead-lead acid batteries I haven't been bothered. But unsealing the cannister prior to boarding is prudent both to prevent pressure change damage and in case there has been any hydrogen buildup. Regards, Marcia Oliver
