As you said yourself, there are many types of brass so either I don't put as much strain on my bolt snaps as you guys do or it's because the type I use is of a better quality (Italian made). I differentiate between bolt snaps for heavy/bulky equipment (deco bottles) and the rest. For the 'heavy' type, I use very large ones (again, not S/S but crome-plated) - 120 mm - and for the rest, 80 mm.
