    You're right about the added difficulty in cold water, however, it can
be done; We do it all the time.  However, someone else suggested
re-parking the reg using the upper bolt snap.  I've tried that and thought
it was too cluttered.  Maybe it's worth another try.
    As far as making the inner tube work?  What I've done is cut the inner
tube about 3" wide.  This way, instead of trying to immediately get your
fingers underneath (difficult to do with gloves), you press against the
tubing and slide your hand against it making it roll.  Once 'rolled' a
bit, it's easier to get under.
    Back to the top bolt snap thing.  I may try this, again, since I get
coldest (obviously) during long deco and shifting from deco bottle to deco
bottle doesn't have to be as pretty as stage shifts;  The dive is
essentially done. With this in mind, I may start trying to simply clip off
the reg to the top bolt and forget about trying to get the hose under the
tubing (numb hands) during deco.
