My information is third hand and probably not accurate, but it does not
matter to make this point.

Someone said that this team wore doubles and carried a stage bottle that
they called a safety. I was told they breathed the back gas and dropped the
full safties along with the scooters and then began swimming. I was told
that the reason they did this was because of things they had heard about the
wkpp using safties.

Guys, getting part of the story is often worse than getting none. The first
rule of gas management is keep as much as possible on the back. If you need
more than full doubles for safty, that is when you add the safty bottles.

Normal mode of operation is we dive from stage bottles and save the back
gas. If the shit hit's the fan, you can dump the stages.

While I am at it, a reminder that back gas is always mixed for the deepest
depth. In other words, it is wrong to have 35% in back gas and a stage of
20/25 trimix for a deep section, something I have heard about at places like
Henley's castle. What happens if you have to go to back gas at 175 feet?

If any part of this is not clear, please contact me privately.

If I got the story wrong, I apologize and would appreciate a correction.

Thanks,
Jess
