A few weeks ago, Arch Sink, a small cave system which is located in =
northwest Pasco county, Florida was closed to diving. The property =
surrounding it is up for sale and the current owner(s) apparently do not =
want any diving activities going on during this time. Whether it will =
be reopened to diving in the future is hard to say right now.
=20
Even more recently, Ward Sink, a deep sinkhole with no cave system, =
which is located about 3 miles south of Arch Sink, was closed to diving. =
I have heard a rumor as to why it closed, but since I have not =
confirmed it, I decline to comment on it.

I have dived both sites frequently since 1988 and have surveyed and =
mapped both of them. The loss of these sites, should it be permanent, =
will be a personal loss to me.

A 4-page article on Ward Sink appeared in the most recent issue of =
"Skin Diver" magazine in the "Southern Diver" insert on page 46. =
Unfortunately, anyone who has thoughts of diving it in the near future =
are in for a disappointment.
