Well after reading all of these post and being new to the Cave Diving Community I would like to share another observation that will take us back to the Qualified Candidate and beyond. A short wile back I "teased" this list by posing a sceanario where someone at the surface beckons for help because hi buddy was lost and Strokes/ DIR rescue. I was at Gennie in November and this really happened and the outcome was quite sad. The only prevention was to not Solo. Also I heard rummor that the diver had not made a cave dive in over a year. What I pose is this: A PADI OW Diver who has not loged a dive in 1year is encouraged to do a tune up dive either with an Instructor or a Dive Master We as Cavers are way beyond the scope of OW diving but are we so good as to not need a tune up. How often are we afforded the oprotunity to do a lights out air share with a safty diver watching over us so we may keep this skill sharp. How often do we even attempt to put together a skills day at Gennie Peacock or where ever. I am certian that making a trip from out of state that a day of being Harrassed by some Instructor is far less than desireable when compared to doing that Kick-But dive at Gennie or where ever. I would love to see a Cavers tune up offered. 3-4 times a year. Ted Cole offered a skill challange to the list; Exit on Dry Suit Inflation If nothing else this would possibly afford a diver who has no buddy a day of diving even if it is "Just" a skills dive. Who would be willing to donate their time? Would Gennie Offer free admission? Could this be set up for a modest fee where Gennie and or the Instructors get some compensation as like the Scuba Tune up? Can this also incorporate a sceen evaluation for Divers who are interested in Cave Training? Anybody???????
