Subject: DIN adapter

Hi,  I just bought a DIN kit for my regulator. When I plug it in my dive rite
valve it seems to be too long and some treads are showing off. Do I have the
wrong adaptor. I know that there is different kinds of DIN fittings... What
is the best way to fix this, change it or  is there any kind of piece that
can protect the threads ?
