I take it the brand of "chapstick" you were using had a petroleum
content?  Yeouch.  Good safety tip.  I commonly use some type of lip
balm if I will be on the water all day.  Hate getting sunburned lips,
but would hate to get oxygen burns even more.   What about sun screen
on the face?  If a non-re breather mask covers the cheeks then would
the presence of oxygen burn there, also?   Getting the bends plus
feeling like your face was on fire would be a double whammy.
