Mike, Most (not all) of the dive shops in this area that pump nitrox. Do not want to pump O2 into a tank that may have air (20.9% O2, 79.0% N2) from a contaminated source. The dive shop that also pump Nitrox are pumping "N-Grade" air, not E-Grade, or J-Grade. They feel E-Grade air should not be used for nitrox, or gas blending. At one time they would check your tank to make sure it doesn't contain normoxic air. They feel if a tank is labeled nitrox it should be used for nitrox only. They look for a O2% of greater than 25%. Now there are some dive shops in the area that will pump nitrox into any tank you bring in labeled or otherwise. But, If you ask to see the compressor Gas purity rating cert. they don't have one posted or if you ask are you a certified nitrox and/or Tri-Mix blending station. The person will say "NO" but I know how to blend the stuff. I have a bottle of O2 over in the corner, it will only take a couple of minutes. With this in mind I deal with the guys from the first dive shop. Gary McGee Detroit, MI USA Great Lakes Wrecker
