Another update on the Maestro Pro, and some observations. On Saturday and Sunday I took the computer on a 140' and 160' dive respectively. This time I programmed the machine in advance for air with 99.99% O2 as the decompression gas and had no problems (something about time pressure I think, doing it at home is easy, doing it on the boat is hard). One thing I noticed is the computer gets you out of the water a lot faster than tables do. We were using the SRL (that's Submariner Research ?Labs? for Mr. Appleyard :) tables and they called for 25 minutes of stops on the 160' (1 3 5 5 11) with O2 at 20' and 10'. At the start of the ascent (19 minutes) the MP called for a 20' ceiling, no stops at 40 or 30. It cleared me before I got to the 10' stop. I followed the tables, and it's been mentioned that there's very little experience with using these machines for deco dives, so I have no intention of shortening my stops to match the machine, but it is interesting to note that if the machine were right, I'd have been out of the water in about half the time. Scott. PS, if anyone is interested in parting out a Maestro Pro or Nemesis II, I'd like to buy a used wrist unit. I left mine on the dock for a few minutes while I brought my car around and it was gone when I got back. Now some fool is wandering around Monterey trying to figure out why the fancy new computer he found doesn't work. On the upside, if it had been an AirX, I'd be buying a whole new computer ;). S.
