Ship props are designed to push water in a linear path, there should be
little to no suction of water from underneath the prop. Your main concern
is the force of the prop wash pushing from your desired loaction. Since
you will normally hear the vessel long before you feel the effects of the
prop wash you should be able to anticipate and plan for the increase
current (or change in current) during the ships passage.
