What does SAC have to do with UAC, which stands for > Underwater Applications Corp. The Table generator for IANTD. UAC likely = Underwater Air Consumption. Or likely several other things. In diving as elsewhere, I get sick of ambiguous or unexplained alphabet soup. Same as to a doctor GPI can mean "general paresia of the insane" or "general peritoneal infection", 2 completely different important diseases. Same as in a big dictionary of initials I found over 40 unrelated organizations with initials all CIA: very confusing to someone I met who was surprised about the amount of CIA involvement in the USA computer industry, until he found that the letters also meant "Computer Industries Association". Can't people spare enough finger joint lubricant to type the whole name once in the message to say what the initials mean? Likely Underwater Air Consumption has to be distinguished from Surface Air Consumption, and is more as the diver has to push through the water and to burn extra body fuel to keep warm in cold water. Likely why in the old days oxygen rebreather absorbent canisters which were big enough for industrial use on land were sometimes too small to keep up with the amount of carbon dioxide produced by strongly-exerting swimming frogmen who thus tended to have attacks of `shallow-water blackout'.
