I see somebody has taken the liberty of putting words in my mouth by putting out this message using my name on the header. While I think this is highly amusing, and basicly agree with it completely, I feel deprived of the opportunity to have done this myself, and have to admit to not even having thouth of it, or I would have done it myself. My only excuse for not doing this myself is that I overlooked the obvious - the fact that the reson Tom keeps recommennding non-optimal gear (like lights with prismatic canisters and bc's that need a long list of modifications just to use ((per Tom's post)), is that he is a dealer in the stuff. I really totally forgot this. I must now relate the story of my friend Bill Mee. The way I met Bill is that he was our diving with Tom and I was there on the boat. In the old days Tom would bring his students out with me around - he doesn't make that mistake any more. Anyway, Bill and I got to be good friends, but didn't start diving together unitl much later. It seems, from what Bill tells me, that Tom sold him a DIve Rite "neutraleak". Well, let me tell you one thing about Mee - he used to teach in the engineering school of Brown University (for you dumb rednecks that is an Ivy League school, like Yale or Harvard). Just so you necks will understand, they have a hockey team of the clliber of FSU's footbal team, or at least they did when I was in college (this is a school you go to after high school before you start teaching diving) Needless to say, as he relates the story , laughing, he can't believe he actually bought a prismatic pressure vessel, being an engineer, but actually got rid of it for all of the other usual reasons. He is on here, so he can tell the story himself. Anyway, he sold it to another of Tom's students right away. This was before I was even diving with him.
