There a small number of cave divers here in South Australia who would be
interested in attending a training course on Trimix/Mix gas diving,
however they do not wish to do a number of small drawn out courses
over a long period of time.
There are currenltly no IANTD courses offered in this part of
Australia, which would require travel and accommodation to the
nearest course site (approx 800km/500miles).
The IANTD course structure appears to be too fragmented, involving
small, short courses which the diving community and general public
(who we rely on here for site access for diving) would have
difficulty in comprehending.
I agree with d.giddy that a concentrated approach to technical training
would be preferable, however IMHO, IANTD may not find it
economically viable to cater for a smaller group of the diving population.
I will be waiting to see if IANTD and other training organisations
can provide a simplified "path" to their courses (including recognition of
prior diving experience) before I commit myself to a hierarchy of
specialty courses.
