Look, I'm not being cute, but by the time you've got to that
stage you've made two major fuckups that we teach novices - people who
want to dive but haven't yet - about.

In a dive of that severity i) cold, ii) high current iii)
requiring O2 deco you do *not* dive in threes. And you *never* separate
the buddy team, however many people you dive with. Standard practices
for everybody who learns to dive in cold low vis water.

If there are no other divers available for rescue, you will not
be allowed by the remaining surface personnel to redescend.

Personnally, if I'd taken my best mates down and fucked up that
badly, I'd debate whether I'd ever make the surface; I'm not sure if I
could live with myself.

Exception to the no-seperation rule is if you're diving solo in
a group; if that was made clear beforehand, then the point above still
applies; you are the worst person to send back down. If your dive
required O2 deco, you've got to take time to plan your new dive and get
gas supplies organised (call the chopper to Aberdeen now 'cause you'll
need it). Forget it. They're dead.

I do hope this 'rhetorical' question wan't based on a real life
situation. And I hope it never happens.

Of course; if this ever did happen to me the above is out the
window. My brain only works when my heart is out of gear, you'd have to
sedate me to keep me out of the water.
