High ppN2 makes the red corpuscles go rigid - this makes if very difficult for
them to deform to squeeze down the small capillaries such as in the Brain - as
they can't deform they either rip the capillaries or severely damage them. 
This is thought by many, to be the cause of capillary damage that can be seen
in the fine capillaries in eyes retinas - DDRC where doing some reaserch on
this.
