Also..almost forgot.. I have a job I'm scheduled for next week under an unmanned flat top rig. Because of a floor shift one of the 3 support legs sank causing a lean on one side of thee rig. This was repaired by a floor jack by another crew and they strapped off all stressed junction pipes on the process. The problem they left is mine now, though. The angular or horizontal support beam under one of the mains ended up beind stressed as they left about a 13" long 1/4" wide crack. This crack left unanswered with some help is gonna cause a bow in the horizontal beam. It's also in a hard to reach place. My call was to use a 7pass villager weld. To me that would hold the strongest. A friend of mine believed my forst choice was correct by using a piece of stock steel and inserting it into the crack and hitting it with 3 passes each side. Still another cooworker of mine said hit it with a carbion tip...of course that would be much much quicker...but would it be strong enough... any advice would be appreciated. I'd hate to walk away from a job not done correctly. p.m. ************************************************* EO2 Phillip H.
