Personally, I am hardly offended by aby language anyone may use. However, lately the amount of nonsense, flaming, insults ,etc has become much larger than the amount of real information. Every day I have to plow through 40 to 50 messages to find 1 or 2 that contain something useful. This waste of time already has driven several people, who could make useful contributions, off the list. If it is not possible to discuss the technical aspects of diving without resorting to verbal violence, maybe the diving community is not yet mature enough for this kind of communication. If in your local diving club, someone would consistently act agressively or would regularly insult people, what would happen? In our club, I think he would be politely asked to leave, regardless of his diving experience. If he would refuse, he would eventually be kicked out. Our club is a group of people with similar interests who regularly interact socially to exchange information while enjoying themselves. I fail to see where this differs fundamentally from this list. To summarize my opinion: - the best would be to make the list moderated if you can find a moderator - second best is to remove people who mail more garbage than information - if the above doesn't work, I see no further use for the list Best regards, Joel Coopmans Supply Chain Software To dive or not to dive, Analyst-programmer that's the question. e-mail: u99854@kb*.be* tel : +32 2 422 7297
