As I recall, TDI doesn't even require >that the STUDENT dive, let alone the instructor! Go back to sleep, and pull the covers >over your head. Lets get right to the point. Your a weenie. When you tell me who you are, then I'll respect you, maybe. But you dont have the balls. Now, lets get specific. I don't know all ANDI standards that well, but it does not make a difference. I stopped teaching ANDI years ago. But if ANDI standards do not require an instructor to dive with the students, and he is only there to supervise gas analysis, table calculations, and answer questions, etc., I see no point in the instructor holding the hands of ALREADY certified divers, so long as the depth/PO2 cannot be exceeded due to the environment, and there are no in-water skills to be conducted/evaluated. If the instructor chooses to sleep or pick his nose while the students are diving, whats the difference so long as he is immediatly available if needed? Remember, we are talking about beginner nitrox, not beginner openwater students here. These students already know how to swim and breathe, unless you Mr. Goodviz are an instructor and they were your students-then yes, it would be best that someone hold your hand as well as your students during the dives. PS-does anyone know who this Goodviz weenie is? He seems to be embarassed to sign his name. Raimo.
