You heard it right! ANDI standards do NOT require the instructor to dive with the students! The instructor makes sure the students analyse the mix, understand their dive plan, and then review the material after the dive! Since I was in the pool with students the night before until 1 AM and was back up at 4 AM to issue cylinders and such before going to the boat you're damn straight I didn't go in the water with them! Diving while fatigued is hazardous to yourself and to those in your charge. Since the standards (no matter how ridiculous they are in my opinion!) did not require me to dive, I rested while they were in the water.
