Hello-This post will be my introduction to techdiver.  Recently I was refered
to this listing by an individual from Scuba-1.  I have found most messages to
be very informative and interesting.

Over the past few years I have become increasingly interested in shipwreck
diving.  This interest has led me to pursue a career in Resource Management.
I hope someday to work for the National Park Service or some Department of
Natural Resources overseeing shipwreck park/preserve areas.

Preparation for this career has included working for various agencies in 
resource management, a graduate degree in Park Administration with an 
emphasis in coursework offered by Indiana Universities Office of Underwater
Science and Educational Resources, AOW PADI, and obtaining an Observer
Status Diver from NOAA.

Completion of the graduate program requires a research project. I have chosen
to examine shipwreck diver motivations.  I anticipate that the information
obtained by the study will help to build a foundation of data on shipwreck
divers that could be utilized by individuals responsible for managing as well
as selecting sites and resources for inclusion in shipwreck parks as they 
attempt to develop facilities, programs, attractions, and services.  In
additionthe study will provide insight into the motivations of shipwreck divers
in as
much as they are the primary users of these sites.  Shipwreck divers have a
large actual and potential impact upon these public resources through their
dives.

Shortly, I will post the survey insturment and would ask that anyone who
has 2-3 min please complete it.  I will post a follow up message when I
complet the data collection and the number crunching.
