How do you "select" between the two? Simply via the tank valves?

Oh, hello, BTW. I've been lurking for a few days now, so I suppose
it's time for my introduction. :-) My diving experience is still
rather low by this group's standards (PADI AOW, 60 dives), but I'm
hoping to improve substantially on that this year both by reading a
lot, perhaps a class, and by practice, practice, practice. My formal
education led to a computer engineering degree, but I've always
enjoyed a variety of sciences so the physics and physiology of diving
hold a great appeal for me. Someday (time, money, and training
permitting) I want to try my hand at cave diving, ice diving, and
the use of mixed gases. I find rebreathers *very* intriguing, so as
prices/risks drop perhaps they'll be in the picture somewhere...
