As far as I can remember, we were getting pretty toasted, they were diving
with the Conshelfs.

Yes, by all means get your regulator adjusted. I think one one the main
reasons people are having so many problems with their regulators is that
the factory adjust them for easy caribbean diving instead of cold deep
water diving.
