Here is my $0.02 worth. I use a pressure gauge on a small hose and bungee it to my regulator hose. All I have to do is look over my shoulder to see the gauge. I like having a gauge on my pony because taking the 1st stage off to check pressure is a pain (and what if you forget to check it before you get in the water?) If you think you have 2500 PSI in the tank, and you really have 750 PSI in it you could have a bad day. I use a 30cf pony, and that is more than enough for a bail-out bottle for the kind of diving that I do, but it is sure nice to know (at depth) that I have enough air in my pony to bail out with if I ever need it.
