Go to a good  bicycle shop and get a Camelbak---its exactly what you are 
theorizing about and better. An isulated outer cover over a 32 ounce plastic 
bladder with internal tube leading from bottom, extending about 2.5 feet to 
a bite plug you can place in your mouth and suck you sport drink of choice 
out of it. And the bite plug will not let saltwater in as long as you 
evacuate any air in the tube before you jump in the water.
They cost about $30 in Florida, and I think are in the direct mail 
Performance catalogs.
