First, I would like to thank everyone for their responses on the regulators!!! This information will be very useful in my decision process. So far this mailing list is *great*. >You are lucky you did this. Computers continuously monitor time at depth, and >in this case would take into account the fact the most of your dive was shallow. >If it said you need to hang, then (at least according to the model used by the >computer) you did in fact need to hang. Unlike tables, computers don't assume Perhaps you misinterpretted my scenario. During the initial stage of the dive, the depth was approximately 185'. At this time, the computer showed a glass ceiling (I don't remember exactly, but the most decomp that was required was about 7 minutes at 20' - these numbers may not be exact). The depth was slowly decreased and by the time I spent a few minutes at approximately 65' the glass ceiling was gone - there was no required decompression. This is normal for the decompression stops to clear during dives like this. BTW, the Solution does do decompression and has a maximum working depth of 330 ft. Just because one of the faster tissue groups was saturated due to the depth early on in the dive does not mean it will stay saturated (indeed, it cleared due to the outgassing at the shallower depths) or even be the controlling compartment as the dive goes on (remember - the slower compartments are still ongassing most of this time). There is a simulator for the Solution that runs on a PC. You can run various dive profiles and it shows the tissue loading graphs so you can see the controlling compartments (wich the computer had this on it like some do). This dive planner can be used to simulate multi-day repetitive diving. Are you now saying that I do have a required decompression stop even though the required decomp stop had cleared??? By the way, my rule of thumb is... 3 minutes at 15' for all dives up to 100' minimum of 5 minutes at 15' for all dives up to 130' minimum of 10 minutes for dives below 130' Since mose of my profiles are not square profiles, I find that I have not yet had to "sit" on a required decom stop. -Carl-
