Yes, it's in Mount & Gilliam 'Mixed Gas Diving' published by Watersports Publishing San Diego, Ca, 1993, pp 109-110. The test was done in 1965. The conclusion was that diver's expectation of narcosis may influence the level of impairment they experience at depth. He goes on to note that only 'some' level of narcosis tolerance can be achieved, and that can only be done by overtraining specific tasks. When faced with a totaly new or unanticipated task, narcosis 'addaptation' pretty much goes out the window. I have personally not experienced any reduced narcosis with high O2 mixes, but then I don't dive high O2 mixes to depths I would experience narcosis at. Maybe this is one of those 'tree falling in the woods unheard' debates. Scott.
