Sorry for any confusion but I think we are saying the same thing.

Two things here (and I am open to different experiences from UK divers).
First, nitrox is very new in the UK, as far as sport diving goes, and
there are very few places to obtain it. Only one in Scotland and the
shop has yet to run its first training course. So the only way to get
it is to mix your own and no-one I know has done that. Everyone I know
uses Air. Second, the rule here is that you don't use your own tanks to
do deco even if you have enough air. In reality you would probably use
them up to 6m.

I think this is one of the reasons that SSAC is about to endorse the use
of nitrox for sport diving.
