He set up the list, he keeps the software running, he finds disk space for the archives, he fixes things when they break, and in exchange for all of this, he gets to listen to all the complaints about what he's doing wrong. I think JR has done a hell of a job keeping this list and the archives up and running for however long it's been. Many others would have given up a long time ago in the face of all the controversy and complaining. Anyone can set up an internet mailing list (that is, anyone willing to _donate_ the knowledge, time, and resources, as JR has done). If you honestly think you can do a better job, you are free to attempt it.
