Rich, great post. Don't worry about "being long-winded",
I am sure there are others besides me that appreciate the
fact that you have put a lot of effort into sharing your
opinion and experience.
What you may not know, being in a somewhat isolated\
paradise in Hawaii doing scientific diving, is that tec diving
has degenerated into macho thing. People are taught that
depth is the achievement, and that more gear is necessary,
and that more deco and complication are the measures of
susccess. These people don;t see what you and I see when
the go diving. For example, when I go out on the local
tec boat, I have them drop me on the reef, and pick me up on
the way in. The others load up the doubles and the gear
witht the multi bottles and dive on one little wreck. Afterwars,
the converstion is about how deep, how much deco, what
each computer said, etc. - George
