Phil, Bill wrote that sooo long ago that cpmputers have changed. I am sure he trusted those he gave it to to see it through. That person was Parker Turner. He died in 1991. He was involved with the NACD quite heavily, and gave it to them as a chapter of the manual. As I said, Mount was training director, and was Adamantly opposed to this chapter, as it is the antithesis off what he teaches. - George << Start of Forwarded message via prodigy (R) mail >> From: Phil Pfeiffer Subject: Re: Tech training (IANTD/etc) Date: 09/11 Time: 04:56 PM Date: Mon, 11 Sep 1995 17:00:05 -0400 (EDT) From: Phil Pfeiffer [phil@es*.ed*] In-Reply-To: <950911.141530.EDT.JEFF@UT*.UT*.ED*> Subject: Re: Tech training (IANTD/etc) > > Jeff, send that to the list. Your methodology obviously works.... Amen to this posting, and the response. I really do not know enough about the debate to make any sort of an informed comment on the actions taken by any of the principles. But I do respect George's postings on this topic, and any help that he could give to those of us who might want to study this craft more closely would be deeply appreciated. That last sentence is meant as a respectful request: one that I hope, but do not necessarily expect, to see fulfilled. I know, from experience, that organizing information about any sort of skill into a format that would permit distribution over a network would take time. I teach for a living, and it often takes me much longer to write coherent prose than I'd prefer. I would also guess that the WKPP is a real time-sink: one that leaves participants exhausted at the end of a typical day. At the very least, George's postings have reminded me about the need to be cautious when selecting one's teachers--regardless of their supposed credentials. One other stupid question. The discussion on (Gavin's?) suppressed chapter on equipment configurations implied--as I recall--that Mount (and the NACD?)was sitting on the *only* existing copy of that manuscript. How could anyone who writes *anything* that amounts to a thirty-page manuscript in this day and age *not* make a backup copy of that MS--especially a person who depends on redundancy to carry him through other major activities? -- Phil ===== Phil Pfeiffer, Computer Sci.
