Subject: my masochistic tendencies...
...well, what else can explain my coming out of my foxhole and wading into
Ye Cesspool?

I really want to learn, to improve, to become a better (= safer) diver. I
know that, on this list, there are people whose experience and training
FAR exceed my own. They have much to teach, and I would live to learn
some of what they know (make that LOVE to learn). I am absolutely sure that,
were I to sit at the fins of Mr. Irvine, I could learn GOBS of great diving
technique and equipment setups that might save my life someday, and would
certainly make my diving life easier, IF I could survive the psychological
(and possibly physical?) assaults that seem to be standard methods of dis-
course among the WKPP divers and their admirers. I find this rather sad.

Diving isn't life, not all of it, and "yeah, well I'm a better diver than
you, and can probably kick your ass" is not a very logical reply to all
questions and criticisms, be they diving-related or no. Judging your own
or anyone else's worth on the basis of diving ability is also not very
logical. As the wise Captain Kirk said, "get a life".

Point the third: "Lisping. Fag. Stroke. Weenie. Fagged-out. Fat. Fat-ass.
An dmy current favorite, "bone-smuggling butt-pirate" indicate a fascination
with masturbation, alternative sexualities and physical appearance far better
suited to the grammer-school yard than an ostensibly adult discussion group.
Are we overcompensating a bit? Are white sheets and hoods now part of standard
issue diving gear for cave diving?

I haven't gotten a lot of e-mail lately; I guess I will now. I have a theory
that the mail will help to test. I'll let ya know what happens.

Dave Ventre (my real name, so I guess I'm not a complete stroke)

PS: Yeah, this post is off-topic, but there's damned little diving being
discussed on Techdiver lately anyway.

...here goes...CTRL-Z and be damned!
