His presence is detrimental to the list. It is statements like that, that are going to drive people off of the TechDiver list. In rebuttal: *The TechDiver list was not "much better" before George joined in, and it will not be "much worse" if he leaves. *Personally, I hope George does _not_ leave soon. I know and like George just as much as I know and like you, but that does not mean that you two can't and don't contribute to this list. I hope both of you do not leave this list, and I hope that both of you continue your contributions (good or bad). *I do care what George knows and what kind of expert he is. Sure, George is a little "rough" on the list, but his information and views are priceless to this list. This whole idea of personal views and the spreading of information (good or bad) is the whole idea behind _any_ list on the Internet. *George's presence is not detrimental to the list. Anyone who cares to share valid information is not a "detremint" to any list. > > He needs to go away and learn manners and civility. This list is not about manners or civility. It's about Technical Diving. From what I have gathered about George, he seems to be a "key" individual in a particular aspect of Tech Diving. This list is very lucky, in that "key" players in the Technical Diving community do read and respond to this list. Hopefully, this list won't piss that away due to unecessary whining. > > However, I have a simpler plan. Oh no, looks like my post was "abusive and insulting" and I'll probably throw in some foul language, just because. Better send a note to postmaster@di*.oc*.wa*.ed* Oh, hold on, I'll just cc: him on this email for you. We don't hear too much of Florida waaaaay over her in the Paficif Northwest. > On Fri, 8 Sep 1995, GEORGE M IRVINE III wrote: "A classic example of Institutionalized Strokery" Sorry for adding more "noise" to the TechDiver list, but I've been "lurking" on this list for a couple years now, and I really don't see any difference on the list. Info comes, and info goes. Take this list for what it is worth, and leave it at that. OBTechDiver: One of the local tech stores, here in Seattle, now has a full TDI mix instructor, who has a passion (and owns) for rebreathers. Seems he did a big stint in the US Navy, and has purchased some of the rebreathers for his own teaching/recreational use. Expect to see Eric and myself in some rebreathers in the near future. As usual, well do our reviews, toss in some images, and post it in Erics'(and Parker's)SCUBA Page: http://diver.ocean.washington.edu/rebreather.html I'll step down from the soap box now. Thanks for your time, Michael Parker
