Terho wanted to know about deep air training sites in Europe, and what
constituted "deep."

I recommend Scapa Flow, Scotland, which is an **excellent** place to dive
because of the historic wrecks (German WW I High Sea Fleet) and also an
**excellent** place to train because the sites are protected from the wind
by all of the Orkney Islands that surround Scapa. (For more info on Scapa,
check out the article that's part of Mad Dog Expeditions Web site.)

As far as "deep" goes: the max depth within Scapa Flow (at least on the
German wrecks) is 45 meters/150 feet, on the dreadnought "Markgraf." This
wreck comes to within 21 meters/70 feet of the surface. Outside the Flow,
the wreck "HMS Hampshire" is in 64 meters/209 feet. THis can be done on
air, although conventional wisdom these days has it that anything over 200
should be done on trimix (oxygen/helium/nitrogen). (Trimix training is also
available in Scapa.)

By-the-way, Terho, where do you dive in Finland? Any good wrecks? Caves??
I've dived in Iceland and in Norway, both of which I **really** enjoyed. Is
Finland worth putting on the "must visit" tech diving list?

Bernie
