Subject: Hi . . .
Hi!

I subscribed a couple of days ago and just wanted to introduce myself.
I've been diving for 2 years in California, PADI OW Adv., with approx 120
dives, and my dive buddy/significant other is PADI Rescue, diving for 5
years with approx. 350 dives. Besides taking the rescue course (probably
next year) and a couple of PADI specialty courses, I wanted to start
learning about what is available in the tech diving area so when I feel I'm
ready to start taking more difficult classes I'll have a better idea which
direction to go in. I've found it difficult to get tech diving
information. We dive on the regular charter dive boats, which don't seem
to have many trips for the tech diving community, or any that I could find
(?)

I've found this tech group *very enlightening* so far . . . even the flames
- :-) - or should I reply :-( . . . and I'm also learning a lot from
the tech diver web site.

I hope I'm not being naive, but I'm interested in learning more about
decompression diving. We don't really have any desire to dive below 130 ft
at this time (we dive in wetsuits and at times get cold long before our air
supply or *no decompression time limit* dictates that we head back to the
boat, and it can get pretty cold 100 ft and below). But if we wanted to
extend our bottom time around 110 ft, I would like to know what I'm doing
and plan for it. My computer, a Phoenix, will handle decompression diving
at my level, but I would like the theory behind what my computer would be
telling me to do.

Can anyone recommend where we can get training in the Los Angeles area?
And any good books?

Also, we are planning to go to Key West next year and I understand that the
Florida area is where there's great training. Any recommendations?

Thanks!
