The ongoing discussion about the benefits of OC experience for CC rebreather diving reminds me about what military diving instructors sometimes say. In several interwievs I've read they say that non divers are a bit simpler to teach (rebreather-)diving the military way. Their point is the unlearning of 'bad' habits. Non divers do as they are told. I think that the mineclerance divers trained by the Swedish navy gets all of their training on the semi-CC Interspiro DCSC (an upgraded AGA ACSC). This is a bit of the same idea as in the Swedish airforce where there is no propeller training. All flying from day one is done with jets. The argument for this is that the training is faster if you train with the real thing.
