Your Lusitania Request INTERNET: DAVID_SHERIDAN@QM*.CO*.AP*.CO* I passed your message on by fax to the Boat Skipper who takes care of all the Lusitania expeditions for the last couple of years. I should tell you that, first the Lusitania is in Irish waters, about 19 miles off the South Coast, rather than the UK. Secondly it's a protected wreck and apart from permission from the owner, you need a license from the Irish Government. Thirdly, the expeditions to date have been planned and trained for in advance for quite a while. So I think your chances of your friend tagging along on an expedition are not good, all things considered. On a more positive note, the same skipper could put him on several other deep wrecks, several literally virgin because of depth, for which a license is not required. Again, I'm not a tekkie but I have been part of the support team on one occasion and I didn't really get the impression it's a case of turn up on the day and dive with whoever you get assigned to. I'd suggest your best bet would be to plan a trip to-gether or maybe some one else reading this might like to team up with your friend for deep diving here on the South Coast of Ireland or in the UK. Apart from that, I'd suggest somewhere like Scapa Flow could be just what he's looking for. I'm sure there's plenty of UK divers here who could suggest other good wreck sites in the UK worth using mix on. If you want more information, eg the 'phone / fax# of the dive boat skipper, let me know. He is experienced at mix diving (16 dives below 250 feet on gas, maximum dept 360ft and an additional 30 dives below 200ft), yes he has a relevant mix c card (for what it is worth), a CDAA Cat 3 Cave diver (3 years, 50 odd dives, 7 on gas to 250ft, but don't tell the CDAA) and has been diving for 11 years (god forbid, but some of this as an "instructor"). He has survived diving with me to date, so I can vouch for his lack of common sense but not for his quality of dive buddy. His only vice is his penchant for loose women (and beer). Seriously folks, if there is any diver who can help get this guy onto either the Lusitania or any interesting cave or wreck your assistance would earn you our (I don't know what I am getting out of this) deepest indebtedness....we would return the favour should any of you ever wish to dive in Oz waters that do NOT contain ice, EVER!!! Thanks, and please post direct to me so you do not cloud the bandwitdth.
