Viking is dropping the Sport suit, and has replaced it with the "590" -- 590 refers the the weight of the material. It is a PVC material, so it should be much tougher than the older material. For the next month or so, the prices are the same as before, after which time they go up a few hundred US$. The Pro has been superceded by the Pro 1000, which is the same material as before, but which has additional reinforcement in key areas. I believe the price remains the same. The Pro HD remains unchanged. I recently (20 dives ago) upgraded from a Sport to a Pro 1000 when my zipper finally gave way, and I'm very happy. There is additional reinforcement (another layer) in *all* of the locations I had sprung leaks over the years, except for one elbow-whacking leak. Some folks have been down on Vikings, mostly over the Sport suits, but I've been very happy to get 300+ dives on the suit with zero problems until my zipper started dripping. I believe the 590 will correct what I consider defects in the materials of the Sport (I think the vulcanized rubber was too thin and didn't remain bonded to the canvas lining over time). In any event the Pro 1000 is much more flexible than I thought it would be. Cheers, David Story NAUI AI Z9588, PADI DM 43922, EMT story@be*.wp*.sg*.co* Better diving through inflatables. PS: Regardless of brand, I simply won't even consider diving a drysuit without a dry hood.
