> 1) What is the "accepted maximum depth limit" of tech deep air diving > of the community?? > 0 ft, 130 ft, 150 ft, 180 ft, 217 ft, 218 ft? No accepted standard. I think a peak in the bell-curve is around 200 feet. I now limit myself to 130 feet, but I have access to equipment that many do not that makes it easy for me to adhere to this limit. Because of the wide range of variability both between and within individuals, and a corresponding wide range of experience levels among divers, each individual must make the choice for him/herself. The less conservatively one is in setting a personal limit, the higher the probablility said person will pay the ultimate price for their overconfidence. > 2) What is the "accepted maximum depth limit" of open circuit > mixed gas diving in different water temperatures? This has even more to do with individual variation than the first one. > 3) What is the "accepted maximum dept limit" of closed circuit > mixed gas technical diving? The only people with a viable opinion of this are the various navies around the world who have huge experience databases with rebreathers. The technical community will not begin to understand what their limits should be until rebreathers become more widely available and used. With about 100 hours of in-water rebreather experience, my present personal limit is 250 feet. I will likely extend this with more experience if the rebreather I am using continues to function as reliably as it has.
