DAN called me back, quite promptly.

Turns out all this has been a false alarm. Sorry about the trouble. Their 
insurance plan changed May 1. If you signed up or renewed before that, you have 
the old kind of insurance and are covered at any depth. When you sign up/renew 
now, you'll have your choice of the new options, and only the highest level 
covers past 130'. If there is something in the new options that you want, such 
as the additional life insurance, you can call and switch.
